Epidemiological studies have demonstrated that a diet rich in soy products, as is typical in Asian countries, is closely linked with lower incidences of breast and uterus cancer, cardiovascular diseases and postmenopausal symptoms. Today, it is well accepted that these effects are due to isoflavones, a class of plant compounds that are especially enriched in soybeans. Isoflavones interfere with the metabolism of our cells. In the skin they have been shown to stimulate the production of the structural components, collagens, and to inhibit matrix metallo-proteinases.

Lipobelle Soyaglycone contains pure soy isoflavones (INCI) in the physiologically active forms (called aglycones). For delivery into deeper viable skin layers (the dermis), the isoflavones have been incorporated into a liposomal preparation. In the dermis, the isoflavones boost collagen production, which leads to increased skin density and improved skin firmness and elasticity.

Change in skin density A clinical study conducted with 20 postmenopausal women with twice daily application of a 3% Lipobelle Soyaglycone emulsion showed an 11% increase in skin density after 3 months. This result even outclasses the effect of common estrogen replacement therapies (4% after 6 months; Maheux et al. 1994, Am. J. Obstet. Gynecol 170: 642-649).

Lipobelle Soyaglicone is a phytohormone preparation based on isoflavones from soy with a high concentration of pure Genistein. Lipobelle Soyaglycone is specially desinged for cosmetic applications:

· It contains the isoflavones in the active aglicone form.

· It is based on a liposomal preparation to achieve a good bioavailability of the aglycones to the skin.

Isoflavone aglycones are known to exert estrogenic effects in different tissues and can therefore be used to treat hormone induced skin aging. However, the isoflavone aglycone Genistein has a number of other activities which offer additional applications of Lipobelle Soyaglicone in cosmetics.
